Personhood: Iteration 4: A new iteration of the projection-mapped interactive installation exploring the boundaries of presence and identity.

Screentime(2024)
Screentime jabs at several poignant aspects of our digital lives: we are all constantly surveilled, we are all now more alone, and we are all made more alike. The work places the viewer in a liminal space behind screens, offering an intimate peek into the digital lives of strangers.
A special thank you to our friends who made this work possible through their performances.

Behind the screens
We interviewed several friends on their nightly phone rituals, which they then replicated out of habit on encased sheets of glass. Embedded cameras recorded these fake digital interactions as though peering through from behind each screen. We then created fake interfaces and animated them to match each scene.

Their award-winning practice reckons with the human subject in collision with the material and digital structures that determine contemporary life. This focus is embodied in their expansive body of work across experimental video, kinetic sculpture, and immersive installation, which has been exhibited in Stockholm, San Francisco, Taiwan, Linz, Singapore, London, and more.
